Today’s music is known as Motown after the Detroit recording company founded by Berry Gordy in 1959. This music enjoyed its greatest success between 1965 and 1968. Motown’s distinctive style of soul music became wildly popular across the globe. It launched the careers of many iconic artists including Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, the Jackson 5 and many more.
